Generate walks from a list

  1. Go to Dashboard → Walks → Generate Walks
  2. Select the voter list you want to walk
  3. Configure the walk settings:
    • Walk size — target number of stops per walk (20–60 is typical)
    • Name prefix — e.g., “Pecan Lakes” becomes “Pecan Lakes — Walk 1”, “Pecan Lakes — Walk 2”
  4. Click Generate
Culper clusters addresses by neighborhood and street, then runs a street-aware route optimization. A 500-stop list might generate 10–15 individual walks.
Walk generation for large lists (1,000+ stops) takes 30–60 seconds. A progress bar shows status.

Splitting a walk

If a walk is too large or you want to split it evenly between two volunteers:
  1. Open the walk from Dashboard → Walks
  2. Click Split Walk
  3. Choose how many sub-walks (2–4) and the split method:
    • Even — balanced stop count
    • Odd/Even — split by house number (odd-side vs even-side of the street)
  4. Click Split — the original walk is replaced with the sub-walks

Carving a sub-area from a walk

See Carving Walks to extract a geographic sub-section of a walk.

Every walk detail page shows a 16:6 aspect map of all stops color-coded by visit outcome:

  • Gold — no answer / left door hanger
  • Green — survey completed
  • Red — refused
