Scripts and surveys are the two tools that make a walk conversation valuable. Scripts make sure every volunteer says the right thing. Surveys capture what voters tell you at the door — data that feeds your targeting for the next round of outreach.

Scripts

A script is the talking points a volunteer reads at the door. It appears on their phone with a tap of the Script button.

Creating a script

  1. Go to Dashboard → Scripts → New Script
  2. Write your talking points in the editor
  3. Use {{tokens}} to personalize:
    • {{walker_name}} — the volunteer’s first name
    • {{first_name}} — the voter’s first name
    • {{address}} — the stop’s street address
    • {{city}} — the city
  4. Click Save to publish

Assigning a script to a walk

When generating walks or from the walk detail page, select the script from the Script dropdown.
A campaign-wide “default” script is automatically shown if a walk has no script assigned. Set this in Settings → Campaign → Default Script.

Surveys

Surveys are the questions your volunteer asks when someone answers the door. Responses are saved to that voter’s record and available in real-time on the dashboard.

Why surveys matter

Survey responses are the most valuable data you’ll collect. They tell you:
  • Who is a confirmed supporter (prioritize for GOTV)
  • Who is undecided (prioritize for persuasion)
  • Who is opposed (remove from future contact)
  • What issues voters care about most (sharpen your message)

Creating a survey

  1. Go to Dashboard → Surveys → New Survey
  2. Add questions. Question types:
    • Yes/No — quick binary
    • Rating (1–5) — support level scale
    • Single choice — pick one from a list
    • Multi-choice — pick multiple
    • Short text — free-form note
  3. Mark required questions vs. optional
  4. Click Save

Assigning a survey to a walk

Select the survey from the Survey dropdown when creating or editing a walk.

Viewing survey results

Go to Dashboard → Walks → [walk name] → Results. You’ll see:
  • Response breakdown by question (charts)
  • Individual voter responses
  • Support level distribution across the walk
Survey data also rolls up to the voter’s detail record — tap any voter name to see their full response history.
