Email outreach lets you send campaign messages to voters and supporters from within Culper, using your voter lists as the audience.

Setup

Connect your sending domain

For best deliverability, verify your campaign’s domain:
  1. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Email
  2. Enter your campaign domain (e.g., smithforcouncil.com)
  3. Add the provided DNS records to your domain registrar
  4. Click Verify
Verification usually takes 15–30 minutes.
Don’t have a campaign domain? Culper can send from a shared domain (campaign@mail.theculpernetwork.com), but your own domain significantly improves open rates.

Set your sender name and reply-to

In Settings → Email, set:
  • Sender name — what recipients see in the From field (e.g., “Jane Smith for City Council”)
  • Reply-to email — where replies go (can be your personal campaign email)

Creating a campaign

  1. Go to Dashboard → Outreach → New Email Campaign
  2. Select your audience — any saved voter list
  3. Choose or create a template
  4. Write your subject line and email body
  5. Preview to see it on desktop and mobile
  6. Send or Schedule for later

Templates

Culper includes a simple drag-and-drop template editor. Start from a blank canvas or use one of the provided starters:
  • Fundraising ask
  • Event announcement
  • GOTV reminder
  • Issue update

Personalization tokens

TokenReplaced with
{{first_name}}Voter’s first name
{{full_name}}Full name

{{candidate_name}}Your candidate name

Tracking

After sending, the campaign dashboard shows:
  • Open rate
  • Click rate
  • Unsubscribes
  • Bounces

Unsubscribes

Culper automatically adds an unsubscribe link to every email and honors opt-outs immediately. Unsubscribed voters are removed from future email audiences automatically — you don’t need to manage a suppression list manually.
